Melissa (AKA Nittany, AKA, Sniggles)

My hubby and I went back home for Christmas, so no foster kittys. We came back in time for our friend's to have their baby and we babysat our other neighbors dog. No kitties with the dog. The dog is awesome with the cats, and we usually will introduce them to the foster cats to see what they think of a dog. Only one cat, Saffron, did we skip this step since she sat at the window and growled at her.

We got Ms. Melissa (aka Pumpkin, aka Nittany, aka Sniggles) on Jan. 6th. She is what they describe as "under socialized" but WOW is she turning around. My husband and I sort of "force snuggled" her after a couple of days (had to make sure she felt safe here.) Now Ms. Kitty can't get enough of it. She sometimes gets nervous and will run, but comes right back.

She likes having a hiding place (right now that is under the blanket on the couch.) Last night we were watching a movie and while she was in my lap I figured I would try to trim her nails. She laid there and purred and purred. I think she knew that it would help her not get stuck on things. I only did her front paws, since she lost interest, but she was such a good girl.

We also introduced her to balls. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my 31 years. She will chase after the ball and play with it forever. We actually had to take it away from her last night because we were afraid she would be up all night from the excitement. I will need to get a video of her playing because it's HILARIOUS!

I was told that she didn't do well with dogs. Through a misunderstanding (we thought she was in the living room with the door closed) she was able to meet our neighbors dog who came in for a treat. She did great! She was very lovey and snuggly with the dog. The meeting did end quickly, just incase. We didn't want to press our luck.

She is a very special little girl. She takes her pills (in a treat) no problem and has developed an addition to Wildside Salmon that I'm afraid she might go through withdrawal from if we don't keep a full bag. She will knock the bag off the shelf and carry it, "Hey, Lady, Open this!"

Lots of photos taken, and more to follow.
