Today we brought home Aladdin, a HUGE, beautiful, super sweet tiger stripped kitten. He is six months old, and beautiful! He and Saffron have met briefly, but it was long enough for her to decide:
"I HATZ the Kitty!"
We'll see how it goes as we slowly introduce them, but Saffron actually growls when she hears him. I would describe Saffron as a good cat for someone who doesn't want a lap cat. She likes to play and run around the house. She LOVES her food and will sit by her bowl and cry if it's empty. She could afford to miss a meal or 10, but we of course would never do that. She is so beautiful, and curious. She loves to have her head petted, and will sort of pin her ears before she takes off for a sudden run. She reminds us of the Grinch in a cute way!
Tonight we felt a spot on her butt that my husband seems to think is matted hair. She was NOT happy while we tried to look at it, so we are giving her a break before we drive her nuts again.
Give them time. We just brought in another stray kitten - 4 months old, skin and bones with an embedded collar: Murphy - to our household. Our two older cats were pretty laid back but the younger 2 y/o rescue: Ashley (found in a bush at 6 weeks old starving w/ worms) was the tough one like Saffron. We kept Murphy in our bedroom and when they started the paws under the door play, we brought Murphy out. That was about 5 days. He has been with us for about 3 weeks now and while Ashley and Murphy are not best friends, there are signs of play. I figured out Ashley was jealous because thinks of me as her person so I am making sure to spend quality time with her before I pick up Murphy.
ReplyDeleteYep, it can take time to introduce cats together, but they will eventually get used to each other. Good luck finding out what the spot is without her retaliating lol. Let us know when you find out what it is. :)
